1. French Trading Post Marker
Inscription. Hereabouts stood the old French trading post kept by Cassoway and Gibson. When the first white settlers came to Three Rivers in 1829. This post was probably established before the Revolutionary War. The French traded with the Indians of the St. Joseph River as early as 1680.
 
Erected 1911 by Abiel Fellows Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Location. 41° 56.452′ N, 85° 38.221′ W. Marker is in Three Rivers, Michigan, in Saint Joseph County. Marker is on S. Constantine Street south of South Street, in the median. Click for map. Marker is located at northern tip of median island where Constantine Street splits into two streets. Marker is in this post office area: Three Rivers MI 49093, United States of America.
