1. The Kenny Fountain Marker
Inscription. ...is dedicated to Thomas J. Kenny, who in 1818 crossed the Alleghenies and purchased this property for five pounds, ten shillings, six pence, and a barrel of whiskey. The farm he established later was called Kenny's Grove, a retreat where the neighbors picnicked in the summer.
 
Location. 40° 23.281′ N, 79° 51.784′ W. Marker is in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania, in Allegheny County. Marker can be reached from Kennywood Boulevard. Click for map. Marker is on the grounds of Kennywood, an amusement park operating seasonally since 1898. Admission fee required. Marker is in the Kiddieland area. Plaque is set on the masonry circumference seating at center of picture.
The fountain was not operating at the time I visited, although the circumference of lights in the fountain pool did turn on as sundown approached.
