1. "Frontier Portraits" Marker
Inscription.
Born near here were two famous men. Jim Bowie invented the Bowie knife. He died at the battle of the Alamo in Texas. Alexander Majors was co-founder of the Pony Express and hauled freight all over the West for the U.S. Cavalry.
 
Erected 2013 by the Kentucky Department of Highways.
 
Location. 36° 40.058′ N, 86° 33.447′ W. Marker is in Franklin, Kentucky, in Simpson County. Marker is on Steele Road 0.1 miles south of Nashville Road (U.S. 31W), on the left when traveling south.
