1. Port Sullivan Marker
Inscription. Early important trade and educational center. Established by Augustus W. Sullivan in 1835. River navigation extended to this point for many years. The Austin-East Texas and the Houston-Waco roads crossed here. On this spot was located Port Sullivan College. Established in the early fifties. Incorporated December 16, 1863. Destroyed by fire in 1878.
 
Erected 1936 by State of Texas. (Marker Number 7950.)

Location. 30° 52.545′ N, 96° 42.062′ W. Marker is near Hearne, Texas, in Milam County. Marker is on County Road 259 0.9 miles north of Farm to Market Road 485, on the right when traveling north. Click for map. Marker is in this post office area: Cameron TX 76520, United States of America.
