1. Ootsa Lake Nechako Reservoir Marker
 
Inscription. In 1952, the Kenney Dam was constructed on the Nechako River to service the new Alcan aluminum smelter at Kitimat, resulting in the creation of the Nechako Reservoir and the relocation of over 75 families. The damming also linked the rivers and lakes of Ootsa, Intata, Whitesail, Chelaslie, Tetachuck, Tahtsa and Natalkuz into the reservoir with a surface area of over 90,000 hectares.
 
Erected by Government of British Columbia.
 
Location. 53° 48.3′ N, 126° 2.562′ W. Marker is near Southbank, British Columbia, in Bulkley-Nechako Regional District. Marker is on Ootsa Lake Road, on the left when traveling west. Click for map. Marker is in this post office area: Southbank, British Columbia V0J 2P0, Canada.
