1. Russell Courthouse Marker
Inscription. The county government was organized at Russellís Fort, May 9, 1786, with the following officers: Alexander Barnett, County Lieutenant; David Ward, Sheriff; Henry Dickenson, Clerk. Justices: Henry Smith, Henry Dickenson, David Ward, John Thompson, Samuel Ritchie. The present courthouse was built in 1874.
 
Erected 1940 by Virginia Conservation Commission. (Marker Number X-6.)
 
Location. 36° 54.064′ N, 82° 4.764′ W. Marker is in Lebanon, Virginia, in Russell County. Marker is on East Main Street (Business U.S. 19) west of Hendricks Avenue, on the right when traveling west.
