1. Great Northern Railway (GN) Sleeping Car Marker
Inscription. Car was built by Pullman Standard at Pullman, Ill in December of 1950 as a part of an order for eight sleeping cars with 16 duplex roomettes and four bedrooms. Car was assigned to the Western Star, their secondary Chicago to Seattle train. With a capacity of 24 passengers plus the porter, the car saw service system wide.
The car was named "Augassiz Glacier" and was numbered #1182 during its entire career. Car was in regular daily service until the formation of Amtrak in April of 1971. Car may have been used in Burlington Northern business trains on one or two occasions and was retired in 1972.
It was donated to State of Wyoming in May of 1974 with the City of Douglas acquiring title in 1993.

Location. 42° 45.514′ N, 105° 23.229′ W. Marker is in Douglas, Wyoming, in Converse County. Marker is on Brownfield Road (County Route 61) near West Center Street (Business Interstate 25), on the left when traveling south. Click for map.
