1. Brass Tablet on the Face of the Monument
Inscription. Erected by the United States to mark the burial place of Confederate Soldiers and Sailors who died at Point Lookout, Md., while prisoners of war and were there buried to the number of 3384, but whose remains were subsequently removed, either to their respective homes, or to this cemetery where the individual graves cannot now be identified.
 
Erected 1911.
 
Location. 38° 4.406′ N, 76° 20.543′ W. Marker is near Scotland, Maryland, in St. Mary's County. Marker is at the intersection of Point Lookout Road (Maryland Route 5) and St. Michaels Manor Way, on the right when traveling south on Point Lookout Road. Click for map.
