Erected 1914 by Mrs. R.D. Meyer, Hanna, Wyoming.
 
Location. 41° 38.412′ N, 106° 18.06′ W. Marker is near Elk Mountain, Wyoming, in Carbon County. Marker is on Elk Mountain-Arlington Road (County Route 402) near Interstate 80, on the left when traveling west. Click for map. Marker is in this post office area: Elk Mountain WY 82324, United States of America.

that was used from the late 1840s up through the early 1890s. The route was established in 1849 by a wagon train headed to the gold fields in California. Among the members of the expedition were a group of Cherokee.
