Inscription. Jefferson Davis' boyhood home. Built 1810, by father, Samuel Davis. First schooling in log cabin here. Jane Cook Davis, his mother, died here in 1845 and is buried here with others of family.
 
Erected 1951 by Mississippi Historical Commission.
