The town hall was used as a courtroom, a meeting room for the magistrate, a theater and concert hall and a venue for celebrations. In the basement was a regular prison, in the attic was a prison for debtors. The prison in the basement was dark and wet. Prisoners are said to have even drowned! - Selskabet For Oslo Byes Vel
