1. Margaret Woodbury Strong Marker
Inscription. Margaret Woodbury Strong loved to play and recognized the importance of play to learning. She founded The Strong in 1968, and it opened to the public in 1982. The Strong is the only collections-based museum in the world devoted soley to the study of play as it illuminates American culture.

Margaret Strong played in many ways. She excelled at competative sports like achery, golf, and bowling, but also enjoyed quieter pastimes like gardening and flower arranging.

Margaret Woodbury Strong (1897 - 1969). Collecting was Margaret Strong's favorite form of play and The Strong is the legacy of the fum she had doing it. During her lifetime she amassed an unsurpassed collection fo dolls, toys, games, and other items that celebrate play.

The whimsical architecture of the museum reflects the colorful, engaging, playful experiences that await guests within.

Today The Strong continues to build on Margaret Strong's collections, exploring the many ways - past and present - that Americans play.

Many benefactors have helped to enhance the quality of life along the Seaway Trail.
