1. Lee's Retreat Marker

Inscription. Sheridan reached here on April 4, 1865 with cavalry and the Fifth Corps, and entrenched. He was thus squarely across Lee's line of retreat to Danville. On April 5, Grant and Meade arrived from the east with the Second Corps and the Sixth Corps.

Erected 1929 by Conservation and Development Commission. (Marker Number M-14.)
