The Battery with its Division arrived at Widow Glenn's about noon and followed its Brigade into action east of Viniard's about 2 p.m. By order of General Davis, the Battery, under a brisk skirmish fire, came into position on this ground on the right of the Division, and opened on the enemy rendering effective service in checking his advance in front and in preventing him from extending his left beyond General Davis right. After holding this position several hours the Division and Battery were forced to fall back to the timber on west side of Chattanooga and LaFayette Road, where the Battery again took position, and with the line of infantry, and other artillery, succeeded in checking the further advance of the enemy. On the arrival of other troops the Battery and Division retired several hundred yards to the rear and bivouacked for the night. The Battery was not seriously engaged on the 20th and retired soon after noon under orders to McFarland's Gap and to Rossville at night.

More about this marker. I used the "Chickamauga Battlefield" map, that I purchased at the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park, Visitor Center, to determine both the marker number for this tablet and the tablet's location in relation to the rest of the park's monuments, markers, and tablets. According to the map it provides the, "numerical listing of all monuments, markers, and tablets on the Chickamauga Battlefield (using the Chick-Chatt NMP Monument Numbering System).”
