Colonel Bruce Perry Crandall U.S. Army (Ret.)
1933 — Colonel Bruce Crandall served two tours in Vietnam as a Army helicopter pilot, leading over 900 combat operations as commanding officer of his units, including the Battle of Ia Drang Valley, during which he saved more than 70 wounded soldiers and provided ammunition critical to the survival of 450 U.S. ground troops. For his gallantry he received the Medal of Honor. E retired from the Army in 1977 as a Lieutenant Colonel, later promoted full Colonel. In 2001 Crandall was an aviation consultant on the movie “We Were Soldiers” about the Ia Drang Valley battle in which he participated. February 2013
