Commemorative Air Force Arizona Military Aviation Walk of Honor Proudly Recognizes Major Gen Carl G. Schneider, USAF (Ret). Carl Schneider enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force in 1946. He graduated from Williams AFB flying the P-51 Mustang. In 1948 he was assigned to one of the first jet fighter squadrons in the U.S. Air Force, and completed 5,000 hours in jet fighters during his 32 year career. He flew 100 combat missions in F-80s during the Korean War, and flew combat with the Vietnamese Air Force from 1962-63. He piloted the F-100 Super Sabre while stationed in Germany during the Cold War and served two tours of duty at Luke AFB. He retired from the Air Force with the rank of Major General on December 1, 1978, as Chief of Staff, Air Force Logistics Command. General Schneider is a member of the Arizona Aviation Hall of Fame, the Arizona Veterans Hall of Fame and the Quiet Birdmen (QB). 2014
