1. A-7E Corsair II Marker
Inscription. The A-7E Corsair II was first flown by on November 25, 1969, after the Navy decided that the A7-A & B needed more power and improved avionics. The A-7E was powered by a naval version of the 15,000 lbs Allison/Rolls-Royce TF41-A-2 turbofan engine, giving the A-7E a speed of 693 mph.

The Corsair II was based on an earlier supersonic fighter, the F-8U Crusader and was built by LTV (Ling-Temco-Voought) Aerospace in Dallas, Texas. A total of 535 A-7E’s were built. The A7-E was a standard light attack aircraft and served the U.S. Navy during Operation Desert Storm. The Navy phased-out the last of their A-7E’s in 1992. The marking shown are those of squadron VA-174.
