Capt. Ambrose A. Blount:
Capt. Charles S. Rice.
The 2d section, under Lieut. William Hunt, served
two 10 pounder Parrott rifles in this position, "Burnt
Chimneys," from the morning of May 21 to about May
25, 1863, when it was ordered to a battery near the
right of the division and corps.

Regarding U.S. 17th Battery.. This unit was attached to Brigadier General Andrew J. Smith's 10th Division, Major General John A. McClernand's (relieved of command 19 June 1863) and Edward O.C. Ord's XIII Army Corps, and commanded by Captain Ambrose A. Blount and Captain Charles S. Rice.
