1. The Hickory Cove Marker
Inscription. This hill-locked body of land was discovered in 1774 by Castleton Brooks, onetime Long Hunter, who settled here in 1775 and was killed by Indians in 1777. A fort was here in 1775, under the command of Captain Robert Kyle.
 
Erected by Tennessee Historical Commission. (Marker Number 1B-26.)
