During the middle of the 18th century there was a silver smelting operation here. In 1866 this area was the location of the Vallejo metals processing plant.

The marker is to the left of the doors. The building is now the Cervantes Theater (Teatro Cervantes). The additional marker to the right is on the 1979 dedication of the theater.
