1. De Burcht / The Castle Marker
Inscription.

The Burcht (the Castle) was built in 1900 based on a design by H.P. Berlage and commissioned by the legendary - General Dutch Diamondworkers Union (ANDB). ANDB chairman Henri Polak (1868-1943) wanted to build a monument for the labour movement. Many artists provided contributions to the decoration of the building. The beautiful staircase, original period rooms, murals, reliefs and stained-glass windows can admired in their original glory. Nowadays, the Burcht houses a centre for debate and education in the field of labour relations
