Inscription.
Completed in 1736 as an integral part of the Pennsylvania State House (Independence Hall), the West Wing provided offices and quarters for the doorkeepers of the Pennsylvania Assembly.

In 1812 the West and East Wings were replaced with “modern” fireproof office buildings. In 1898 city preservationists reconstructed the wings.

Today the West Wing houses an exhibit of the founding documents of the United States of America.

Erected by Independence National Historical Park.
