La casona fue construida en 1929 por el empresario inglés sir Patrick O'hey para su esposa y fue ocupada durante varios años como casa habitación. Es estilo neogótico ecléctico y su fachada está revestida de cantera rosada.
Está catalogada como patrimonio cultural urbano de valor artístico por el Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes y de valor patrimonial por laSecretaría de Desarrollo Urbano y Vivienda dentro de los polígonos de Área de Conservación Patrimonial.
Movimiento de la Casona
Para poder excavar los 9 sótanos y la cimentación de la Torre Reforma, fue necesario realizar un desplazamiento temporal de la casona. Se resolvió construyendo una charola de concreto que confinó a la cimentación original de piedra. Bajo la losa de concreto (charola) se instalaron rieles por los que corrieron unos carros equipados con gatos hidráulicos computarizados, que tenían la tarea de reaccionar ante la eventualidad de algún desnivel del suelo en el trayecto. Paseo de la Reforma 483
This mansion was built in 1929 by English businessman Sir Patrick O'Hey for his wife and she occupied it for several years. It is of an eclectic Neogothic style and its façade is lined with pink quarried stone.
It is cataloged as a part of the urban cultural heritage of artistic value by the National Institute of Fine Arts and of patrimonial value by the Secretariat of Urban Development and Housing within the Patrimonial Conservation Area.
Movement of the Mansion
In order to excavate the nine underground floors and the foundation of the Torre Reforma building, it was necessary to carry out a temporary movement of the house. This problem was solved by building a concrete rack that held all of the house’s original stone foundation. Underneath this slab of concrete (or rack) rails equipped with computerized hydraulic jacks were installed. These jacks were designed to react to any unevenness during the move.
