1. Willeo Baptist Church Marker
Inscription. Named after a well known local Native American, Willeo, who lived along present-day Willeo Creek in the early 1800s. According to legend, he may have been an original church member. Willeo Baptist has played an important role in the Christian life of the Roswell community. In 1872, members from Willeo and Lebanon Baptist met at the historic Roswell square and organized Roswell Baptist Church, which later became Roswell First Baptist Church and Roswell Second Baptist Church, now known as Atlanta Street Baptist. Since 1835 Willeo Baptist Church has been building relationships for Christ in the Roswell community and anticipates pursuing this mission into its future.
