Inscription. William and Margaret Dunn operated the hotel of many years, and Mrs. Dunn did all the cooking. On the first floor, a bar room extended across the front of the building, with a separate hallway that led back to a washroom, kitchen and a large dining room that seated up to 30 people. Upstairs were four sleeping rooms on each side of a hall and a large room. Meals, served family style on three big tables, cost 50˘ and a night of lodging one dollar. Mrs. Dunn gladly cooked special requests. Mr Jeffries, bookkeeper for the Black Mine, liked and enjoyed burnt toast for his breakfast. He said jokingly that it kept his complexion clear.
