Regarding West Virginia 15th Army Corps. This unit was attached to Brigadier General Hugh Ewing’s 3d Brigade of Major General Francis P. Blair's 2d Division, Major Generals William T. Sherman and Frederick Steel’s XV Army Corps, and was commanded by Colonel James H. Dayton. Major Arza M. Goodspeed was killed during the assault on 19 May 1863.
