Sacred to the memory of Very Rev. Godfrey Schilling, O.F.M. 1896-1901 Commissary 1911-1922. Founder of this Memorial Church and Monastery of the Holy Sepulcher in 1897. Fr. Godfrey was the first American Missionary to the Holy Land. By the founding of this monastery he established the first foreign mission institution in the United States.
