1. Anchor of the American Line Marker
Inscription. Artillery and infantry positions along this bluff commanded the road to Albany. This defense line forced the British army to fight on American terms.

The fortifications at this location were designed by Polish military engineer Col. Thaddeus Kosciuszko.

3. Revolutionary War Cannon
This tripod was used by Continental soldiers to load cannons onto their carriages. It is located along the walking trail at the American River Fortifications stop, not far from the marker.

4. American Artillery
Artillery such as this cannon covered the road to Albany, forcing the British to march overland and attack the Americans at Freeman's Farm. The blue-topped poles indicate the location of the American fortifications at the time of the battle.
