Inscription. The line from the right of the 7th Mississippi Infantry Battalion to near Glass’ Bayou was held, May 19 and May 22, 1863, and the assaults of the Union force repulsed, by the 37th and 38th Mississippi. The casualties in the two regiments, on those days, cannot be accurately stated. Hebert's Brigade shortened its line, June 2, by closing to the right and Green's Brigade took position in the line of defense, resting its right at this point.
