Inscription.
[Stand in the middle of the memorial:]
"Take what they have left and what they have taught you with their passing. And when there is a time when men decide and feel safe to call any war insane, take one moment to embrace those gentle heroes you left behind."

We brothers and sisters of the Vietnam War have constructed this remembrance to all of you, gentle heroes lost to war. Slip off your packs, set them down by the crooked trail, drop helmets along side, and shed those magazine-ladened bandoliers away from sweat soaked shirts. Lay those silent weapons down and march into the light of eternity... feel the soothing cool breeze right down to your soul. And rest forever in the shade of our love.

-Kenneth Kensill, Sgt. USMC
President, Erie County Vietnam Veterans Memorial
