On the base ring this gun shows the maker's name "F.M. Eardley-Wilmot".

On the first reinforce a cypher of Queen Victoria with the words "Dieu et Mon Droit".

This translates as "God and My Rights" and was a motto of the British Monarch referring to their divine right to govern.

On the right hand trunnion “B2-XLI” and on the left hand trunnion the date “1857”.

On the chase a cypher has the words “Tria Juncta in Uno”, which translates as “Three Joined in One” referring to the 3 countries that formed the UK.
