1. Boardwalk Marker

Inscription. In February 1904 Borough Council, authorized construction of a Boardwalk on Surf Avenue from this point to the Borough’s southern border. It was removed just 8 years later due to the rapidly expanding beach, and a new Boardwalk was built closer to the ocean. Although a number of smaller Boardwalks had been built previously, the 1904 Boardwalk was the first to connect with its counterpart in Wildwood Borough.
