1. Miners Exchange Marker
In 1867 Mr. Clarsey added a new club room to the south side of the saloon.
On the north side of the building was the Vantine & Co. General Store. The store burned down in the fire of 1867 and again in 1871 when Idaho City had it's fourth major fire in six years. Vantine & Co. moved to the west side of Main Street for a time, but in September of 1871 G.W. Crafts, W.B. Vantine's partner who took over after Vantine's death, decided to build on the old site. By October 12th 1871 the new store was finished and open for business.
In 1876 the part of the building that had been the Vantine & Co. General Store was deeded to Boise County and became the repository of records and deeds. The location is noted on the deed as between the shoe store and the saloon on Main Street and back to the cellar of the lodging house.
The rest of the building has since been bought by Boise County and has been reconstructed as the Commissioners Room and other offices of Boise County.
This building is on the National Register of Historic Buildings in America.
