Inscription. Emil Felix Vanderstucken, born in 1866, came to Sonora in 1890 from Menard. He helped organize the First National Bank and served as President for many years. In addition to ranching, he also operated a mercantile business for 54 years. In 1900 he married Bessie Wyatt, whose family came to this area in 1882 from Hamilton Co. Bessie selected the site for drilling the water well around which Sonora sprang up. They had two sons. Joseph, Sutton Co. ranchman and banker, married Mabel Mears of Menard. E.F. Jr., attorney in N.Y., married Frances Robinson of N.Y.C. Grandchildren are Jan, Jo Bess, Emily, and E.F. III.
