The mound here is a reconstruction of the larger of 2 burial mounds that archaeologists completely excavated in 1938. The large mound was 21 feet tall and dome shaped. A smaller mound was 100 feet south of the large one. It was 2 feet tall and rectangular. Indians built these cemetery mounds between 100 BC and AD 400.
