After sharp resistance, mainly from Dodge's Brigade on the left of Baird's Division, Stovall's Brigade entered the Kelly Field full in the Union rear. Adams' Brigade was in the woods on the right across the Lafayette road with its right advanced. Here both brigades were attacked, Stovall from the front and Adams from the left by Van Derveer's and Stanley's brigades and compelled to withdraw to the vicinity of the McDonald's House. In the final assault of the enemy's lines late in the afternoon, this brigade advanced on the right of the division, passed over the breastworks and pursued to the Chattanooga Road.

More about this marker. In locating this tablet I used the "Chickamauga Battlefield" map, that I purchased at the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park, Visitor Center, to determine both the marker number for this tablet and the tablet's location in relation to the rest of the park's monuments, markers, and tablets. According to the map it provides the, "numerical listing of all monuments, markers, and tablets on the Chickamauga Battlefield (using the Chick-Chatt NMP Monument Numbering System).”
