1. "Beallair" Marker
Inscription. Colonel Lewis Washington, who lived here, was one of the hostages captured by John Brown in 1859 in his raid on Harpers Ferry. When captured, Brown wore a sword, once owned by George Washington, taken from this home. (1 Mi. N.).
 
Erected 1974 by West Virginia Department of Archives and History.
