Estatua erigida por el estado de Sinaloa. Sus restos se encuentran en la Rotonda de los Hombres Ilustres de Sinaloa desde el 20 de noviembre de 1956.

1830 – 1907
Nació el 19 de septiembre de 1830, hijo legítimo de Don José Miguel Buelna y Doña María Estefana Pérez, creció en su natal Mocorito, para después trasladarse a Culiacán, Sinaloa para ingresar al seminario conciliar donde termina su instrucción secundaria, alentado por la ambición de superarse se traslada en 1849 a Guadalajara, Jalisco donde sé inscribió en la facultad de jurisprudencia para seguir la carrera profesional de abogado, donde finaliza sus estudios y obtiene el título de licenciado en Derecho. Es nombrado gobernador substituto en 1862 y candidato a gobernador del Estado en 1867, donde impulsa muy fuerte la educación en general. Al comenzar su periodo gubernamental existían apenas 14 escuelas en el estado, al terminar

English translation:
Eustaquio Buelna Pérez
Statue erected by the state of Sinaloa. His remains have been in the Rotunda of Illustrious Men of Sinaloa since November 20, 1956.

1830 – 1907
He was born on September 19, 1830, the son of José Miguel Buelna and María Estefana Pérez. He grew up in his native Mocorito, and later moved to Culiacán, Sinaloa to enter the Conciliar Seminary, finishing there his secondary education. In 1849, he moved to Guadalajara, Jalisco, where he pursued a professional career as a lawyer, where he finished his studies and obtained a law degree.
He was appointed substitute Governor in 1862 and candidate for Governor of the state in 1867, where he promoted education. At the beginning of his government period there were only 14 schools in the state, at the end of his term he left 200 schools. He died on the morning of April 30, 1907 in Culiacán, Sinaloa. He is considered the founder of the Autonomous University of Sinaloa that currently bears his name.

 México Mágico and the Statues of the Paseo de la Reforma. This excellent site (in Spanish) is dedicated to Mexican history in general, including the statues of the Paseo de la Reforma. Unfortunately, although it has some additional history about Buelna Pérez, it does not have the marker inscription, which has not been found elsewhere either. (Submitted on August 1, 2018, by J.
