After forcing Harker's Brigade out of the Dyer Field Kershaw's Brigade coming over the ridge in rear of this point immediately assaulted Stanley's Brigade and the line on the right of it. Kershaw's assaults with Anderson's Brigade of Hindman's Division next on the left were continuous and persistent until 4:30 when Gracie's Brigade of Preston's Division arrived and passed to the front line. Three of Kershaw's regiments continued to fight with Preston until dusk.

This tablet is located in the national park that preserves the site of the Chickamauga Battlefield, along a park walking trail that use to be an old farm road, that runs across the south downslope of Snodgrass Hill.
