Inscription.
Looking down hill from this area you may notice a pond. Once two types of shale were processed from this quarry and used for brick making. It was said that at one time this quarry was over 60 feet deep and that during the last years of operations a steam engine used in running shale up the track was left at the bottom of this quarry as it began to fill with water. Through diving expeditions it has been discovered that over the ages this quarry has filled in and is currently 20 to 25 feet at its deepest point with no sign of steam engine remains.
