Inscription.
Nach Ostern ist viel Schnee gelegen,
in Wäldern, Feldern aller Wegen,
und haben je dennoch durch göttische Güt,
die Trauben vor Pfingsten noch alle verblüht.
Man brachte auf Jakobs Tag Trauben herein
und wachs dies jahr noch ein köstlicher Wein.

(English translation:)

After Easter much snow lay on the ground,
in forests, fields, and all around.
But nevertheless, through God's great grace,
by Pentecost the Lord had set the grapes.
By Saint James' Day, the grapes picked off the vine,
were made into a delicious wine.

Regarding Anno 1726. The marker, oddly perhaps, but simply, is a crop report in rhyme. Snow was on the ground late into spring (Easter was relatively late that year, April 21st); by Pentecost (roughly six weeks later, i.e. by early June) the grapes had set, and by St. James' Day (July 25), they were already being harvested, with the resulting quality of wine apparently worthy of being commemorated in rhyme.
