Inscription. Upon this site for more than seventy years stood the home of John D Wendel Esquire and his family

On the death of Rebecca A D Wendel Swope and of Ella V von E Wendel the last surviving members of the family, the property passed by will to Drew Theological Seminary of Madison, New Jersey, which, by this tablet, makes grateful acknowledgement of the gift.
