1. Welcome to the Fairhope Pier Fairhope’s ‘town square’ Marker
Inscription. The first Fairhope pier was built in 1895. In the early years, the wooden pier served as a commercial dock for the bay boats. The first concrete pier was built in 1968 and remained in use until being severely damaged by Hurricane Ivan in 2004 and Hurricane Katrina in 2005. After renovations, the Fairhope Pier reopened on November 22, 2006.
