1. St Michael’s Church Marker
Inscription.
St Michael’s Church is one of the oldest in Lewes. It was built just inside the West Gate of the town. The oldest surviving part of the church is the round tower, which may have been built in the 12th century.

There are only three round church towers in Sussex. St Michael’s Church has been altered many times.
