Here lived and researched Eduard Buchner (born May 20, 1860 in Munich, died August 13, 1917 in Focșani (Romania)). Professor at the Julius-Maximilians University, Wuerzburg, 1911-1917. Chair for Organic Chemistry. Received the Nobel Prize in 1907 for his work on acellular fermentation.
