pack, a canteen, and a blanket draped across his proper left shoulder. The sculpture is mounted atop an obelisk with three graduated steps at the bottom. On the right side of the obelisk is a relief of two crossed muskets with butts toward the ground. On the left side of the obelisk is a relief of two crossed banners with banded hems and finial tops that resemble those of the United Daughters of the Confederacy.
