Inscription. Built by General Motors/ General Electric in Erie, Pennsylvania, this 1,800 h.p. locomotive was the first non-articulated, high speed, mainline passenger locomotive on the American railroads. Originally powering the B&O's "Royal Blue" passenger train, in 1938 it went into service on Alton Railroad powering the "Abraham Lincoln". Donated in 1958 by General Motors, General Electric and Hyman-Michaels Company.
