Torre del Relox
Al ser declarada Payo Obispo como nueva capital del Territorio Federal en 1915, en este lugar se erigió un monumento conmemorativo en el cual se instaló un faro para la navegación y el reloj que antes perteneció a Santa Cruz de Bravo. Se le conoció como la Torre del Relox y por más de tres décadas fue el punto más emblemático de la ciudad.

A cien años de aquel suceso Chetumal cuenta con una nueva referencia que recuerda su pasado glorioso y muestra al mundo el indomable espíritu de sus habitantes: su fe en el porvenir.

English translation:
The Clock Tower
When Payo Obispo was declared as the new capital of this Federal Territory in 1915, a memorial was erected in this place in which a lighthouse for navigation and a clock was installed. It had previously belonged to Santa Cruz de Bravo. It was known as the Torre del Relox (Clock Tower) and for more than three decades and was the most emblematic symbol of the city.

One hundred years after that event Chetumal has a new reference point that recalls its glorious past and shows the world the indomitable

The southern face of the clock tower includes a digital clock. It also appears that there was an additional marker or plaque on a small base on the monument's southern side but it is currently absent.
