The Southern Fleet
1899-1914
Un muelle de madera de 100 metros de longitud, dos barracas, un taller mecanico, un gran horno de pan y 40 curvatos para almacenar agua de lluvia, fueron las instalaciones básicas de la Flotilla del Sur. Se le llamo también Flotilla de Payo Obispo, y su función era vigilar el Rio Hondo con barcos de vapor que se proveían de leña para las calderas en las márgenes del mismo rio en 1914. Al triunfo del ejercito constitucionalista las fuerzas federales fueron disueltas y los oficiales de la flotilla quedaron a disposición de Venustiano Carranza
The Southern Fleet
1899-1914
A wooden pier 100 meters long, two barracks, a mechanic’s workshop, a large bread oven and 40 wooden tanks to store rainwater were the basic facilities of the Southern Fleet. It was also called the Payo Obispo Fleet, and its function was to monitor the Río Hondo with steamboats that were supplied with wood from the banks of the same river for the boilers in 1914. After the triumph of the Constitutionalist Army the federal forces were dissolved and the officers of the fleet were place at the disposal of President Venustiano Carranza.
