Cockrell's 1st Brigade, of Brig. Gen. John S. Bowen's Division, Lt. Gen. John C. Pemberton's Army of Vicksburg, and commanded by Col. Eugene Erwin (killed in action 25 June 1863) and Maj. S. Cooper. Col. Erwin was Henry Clay's grandson.
